Your pet's portrait is drawn on the best quality Canson Pastel paper or top of the range Art Spectrum paper with French soft pastels, which need to be framed under glass to preserve the delicate surface. I am happy to arrange this for you if required and work with a professional framers who supply framing to major galleries and so offer a superb service. If you prefer to arrange framing yourself, I am happy to supply the portrait unframed.

Terms & Conditions

My guarantee to you - Your deposit
If you change your mind up to 14 days after placing the order and want to cancel that’s fine and as long as I haven’t started on the work, I will refund you in full - no questions asked. Once I’ve started drawing your commission, which, depending on workload may happen as soon as I receive the deposit, the deposit is non-refundable. A deposit (usually 50% of the full price) secures your place in the queue.

After discussing your requirements with you, I will send you an Invoice for the deposit and an Order Form which will show the agreed deadlines and details of the artwork. This is the time to correct anything I have misunderstood, or to make any changes to your requirements.

When you have made your deposit payment, this serves as a contract to purchase the artworks from me.

For commissions I will send you a confirmation email on receipt of the deposit. This is your receipt of the deposit paid.

Portraits - getting a lovely pose
If you’ve got a favourite photograph which shows the pose you want for any artwork including portraits, I can usually use your photos to work from. If you don’t have the right photo, I can take photos for a small charge as long as you live within about 10 miles of my studio. Otherwise I will work from your photos which I am happy to adjust as necessary using digital editing which is at no extra cost. I can arrange to travel up to 25 miles from my studio to meet you and your pet. My time and travel costs are additional to the prices above and will be charged at my current daily rate plus any costs incurred.

Finishing touches
Pastel drawings and oil paintings on flat canvas or paper need framing (whereas box–framed canvases or board can be framed or hung just as they are). This finishing touch is an important and personal thing and I am happy to arrange for framing after we have had a chat about your preferences and budget. I use a professional maker of frames for artists and galleries who frame for major galleries, so I would highly recommend this option to get the very best effect.

Your approval
When the artwork is finished, I will email you an image of the artwork for approval, or, if suitable, a studio visit can be arranged. The artwork must then be paid for in full before I send it out or deliver it to you. Once the artwork has been approved and payment received, the commission is complete. Non commissioned art work must be paid for in full at time of purchase or before I send it out to you.

I can arrange for portraits to be posted to you either framed in a special gallery frame box or un-framed (rolled in a strong tube). All postage is at cost plus time. I will advise you before posting of the cost.

I (the artist, Juliet Matthews), am not responsible for artwork that is damaged, lost or stolen during transit. If you (the customer) wish to insure the artwork during transit, this must agreed with me before posting and will be charged at cost.

I ( the artist Juliet Matthews) reserve the right to use the your comments about the artwork for marketing and advertising purposes. All artwork created by me (Juliet Matthews) and all images shown on this website remain the copyright ownership of me (Juliet Matthews).
